Bachelor thesis describes the issue of biodegradable waste and the way it is treated. There is also described the possibility of secondary use and converting biodegradable waste into compost or some form of energy. The section focused on the composting process is more fully described, because it is the most widely used method of aerobic treatment of biodegradable waste. For an explanation The Central Composting Brno was chosen as an example of the practice. Composting works since 2007, its current capacity is 70 000.103 kg of bio waste and is located in the Brno - Modřice. It uses the technology with forced aeration and helps to return organic matter to the cycle of matter in nature. The output products are composted organic fertilizers Black Dragon, Green Dragon, and substrate Gray Dragon.

This thesis is focused on analyzing of the possibilities of biodegradable municipal waste management in Brno-city district Nový Lískovec. The practical part analyzes the situation of bio-waste management in Brno and describes the best practices from the Czech Republic and abroad. Another part proposes the possibilities of bio-waste management in Nový Lískovec. Proposed possibilities are evaluated in terms of technical and financial demands and funding opportunities. This analysis also reflected residents interest in bio-waste sorting. Residents interest was assessed by questionnaire survey. The result of this thesis is a recommendation to set up the most suitable system of bio-waste management in Nový Lískovec.
